Why walk?
The project is the brainchild of Iain Harper, who has taken part in several Three Peaks Challenges in the past. Iain has had some problems with cancer in the past few years, undergoing various types of surgery, radiotherapy, etc. He is now fit and well and wishes to give something back to those who have supported him throughout. He has chosen to support both Cancerbackup and The Lymphoedema Support Network.
To raise money, Iain has set a proper challenge and one which is much harder than the Three Peaks in terms of fitness and stamina, that is to walk the entire length of the South Downs Way, 106 miles, from Winchester to Eastbourne over the weekend of the 3rd to the 7th May 2007. The object is to raise at least £10,000 from the efforts of all concerned.
