An annual hill climb has been running on Pea Royd Lane since 2004, when club founder Stewart Smith began hosting it for his previous club Thurcroft CC. Stewart also promoted the National Hill Climb on the same course in 2009. The National now returns in 2014 on Oct 26th from 11am.
In 2009, Dan Fleeman (Cervelo Test Team) was the men’s winner with an incredible time of 3:17.8. The women’s winner was Anna Fischer (Maxgear RT) 4:55.2 just 0.5 seconds in front of Lynn Hamel.
The headquarters for the National:
The Venue, 650 Manchester Road, Stocksbridge where the riders will sign on, refreshments will be available and where the presentation will take place after the event.
The Championship will take place on a fully closed road with categories for school children, men, women and veterans and will have a maximum entry of 180 riders, promising to be an amazing event.
